WordPress has just rolled out it’s latest upgrade, WordPress 4.7 and it includes the newest theme Twenty Seventeen among other features. From the looks and functionality of the new theme it looks like WordPress is finally catching up to features included in Premium Themes, custom plugins, and drag-and-drop web page builders.

Highlighted Features

Theme Starter Content
Premium themes do this, so it makes perfect sense that WordPress included this in their newest theme release. This is a super helpful tool for getting started from scratch when building your WordPress site.

Edit Shortcuts
This feature makes it easy to identify what can be edited on your web page in Twenty Seventeen and with one click, you can edit the content. Drag-and-drop page builders have been doing this for years, so in my opinion WordPress is behind the curve on this.

Smoother Nav Menu Building
Well, it’s a start… This is definitely a useful feature in WordPress 4.7, but anyone who manages a lot of different WordPress sites knows that WordPress menus could definitely use MORE HELP!

Custom CSS
Now you don’t have to edit your theme files or add a plugin to edit the CSS of your site. WordPress has now included it as a core feature in Version 4.7

PDF Thumbnail Previews
This will make managing PDFs in your Media Library much easier. Now WordPress will display a thumbnail preview of your PDF, rather than the default PDF icon.

There are a ton of other new features, these were the most noticeable to us. If you want to learn more about WordPress 4.7 features use this link: WordPress 4.7
